Colossians declares that Christ is “before all things” and that “in Him all things consist” (Col. 1:17, NKJV). That is not the language of a created being. That is the language of the Creator. Paul goes even further: “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth… All things were created through Him and for Him” (Col. 1:16). If all things were created by Him, then He Himself cannot be part of the created order. He stands outside of it—eternal, self-existent, sovereign.
