Frustrated and overwhelmed, Martha asked Jesus if He cared that she was doing all the work alone. But Jesus lovingly replied, “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” This story reveals a powerful spiritual truth. Martha represents the human tendency to focus on works, performance, and outward activity, while Mary represents a heart resting in Christ’s presence and depending fully on Him.
