  "Out of the Water, Upon the Earth: A Prophetic Contrast" Scripture Reading: Revelation 12:15–16; Revelation 13:1, 11 Beloved, in these few verses of Revelation, we are given a striking juxtaposition— water and earth —used not just symbolically, but prophetically, to teach us how to understand the unfolding of God’s plan in the final days. In Revelation 12:15–16 , we read of the dragon—Satan—spewing water like a flood from his mouth to sweep away the woman, who represents God’s faithful people. But what happens? "The earth helped the woman" —it opened its mouth and swallowed the flood. Then in Revelation 13:1 , a beast arises from the sea , and in verse 11, another beast arises from the earth . These aren't arbitrary images. They are filled with deep prophetic meaning. In prophetic language, the sea represents the chaos and turbulence of the nations —unsettled, unanchored, ever-changing.   When the Beasts Rise: God Still Reigns Text: Daniel 7:1–3  Daniel 7 begins a dramatic shift in the book — from interpreting others’ dreams to receiving his own visions from God. In the night, Daniel sees the sea churned up by mighty winds, and out of the chaos, four terrifying beasts arise. It's a scene full of movement, noise, and fear — a fitting picture of the turbulent, dangerous course of world history. But hidden in this frightening imagery are profound lessons for us today.  The World Is a Chaotic Place. The “great sea” in Scripture often symbolizes the masses of humanity, nations, and peoples — restless, unstable, and unpredictable (see Revelation 17:15). Here, the sea is not calm but churned up by winds from every direction, a picture of political upheaval, conflict, and uncertainty. Like Daniel’s vision, the world today is full of unrest.
