Is the Sabbath Still Relevant for Christians Today? What the Bible Says
For many Christians, the Sabbath can seem like a subject belonging to the Old Testament. Some wonder whether the seventh-day Sabbath was only for ancient Israel. Others believe that the Sabbath was changed to Sunday after the resurrection of Jesus. Still others see the Sabbath as an outdated religious practice that has little relevance in modern life. From a Seventh-day Adventist perspective, however, the biblical evidence points in a different direction. The Sabbath is still relevant for Christians today because it was established by God at Creation, reaffirmed throughout Scripture, honored by Jesus, and presented in the Bible as a continuing gift of rest, worship, relationship, and remembrance of our Creator. The Sabbath is not about earning salvation. We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
