  Looking Beyond This World From the very beginning, God created us for fellowship with Him. When He formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life (Gen. 2:7), humanity entered into a relationship with its Creator that was intimate, personal, and life-giving. Sin shattered that relationship, bringing separation, pain, and death into the world. Yet God refused to leave us lost. From the moment humanity fell, He set in motion a plan to restore what had been broken. The greatest expression of that love was the gift of Jesus Christ, who came to save us and reconcile us to God (John 3:16). The tragedy is that we often become so consumed with the struggles of daily life that we lose sight of the larger story unfolding around us. We worry about finances, health, relationships, and countless earthly concerns. While these matters are real, they are not the whole picture. Why was this analogy used? A wedding is one of the most joyful and anticipated events in life. It represents love, commitment, celebration, and the beginning of a new chapter. The New Jerusalem symbolizes the eternal home of those who belong to Christ, and the bride imagery emphasizes the closeness, joy, and permanence of that relationship. Even when the people were exiled from the Promised Land, God did not abandon them. Jeremiah 24:6 reminds the Israelites that God would bring them back from captivity, restoring them to their land. Jeremiah 31:16 and Ezekiel 11:17 reiterate this promise, emphasizing that God would gather His scattered people, renew their hearts, and reestablish them in the land He had promised. Ezekiel 28:25 and 37:14 further underline the restoration: God would bring peace, dwell among His people, and make His covenant permanent.
