The Grace of Jesus

  Sabbath School First and Second Corinthians  Grace, Love, and Fellowship Lesson 13 - Sunday Grace at the Beginning and the End Read Romans 16:20, Galatians 6:18, Philippians 4:23, and 1 Thessalonians 5:28. Although these passages come from different letters, they share a beautiful and important teaching: the Christian life begins, continues, and ends with the grace of Jesus Christ. Paul repeatedly closes his letters by reminding believers of grace. This was not merely a polite way to end a letter. Grace was at the heart of his message. The church needed grace, and so do we. Romans 16:20 says, “And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” Here, grace is connected with the promise of victory. God’s people do not overcome evil through their own strength or merit. They depend on the God of peace and the grace of Jesus Christ. These passages reveal one of the most beautiful truths in Scripture: God’s love is not merely something He does. Love is part of who God is. His love is revealed through His actions, His sacrifice, and His desire to restore humanity to Himself. John 3:16 tells us that God loved the world so deeply that He gave His only begotten Son. This love was not limited to those who already loved Him. God loved the world in its fallen condition. He did not wait for humanity to become worthy before extending His mercy. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.” — 1 Corinthians 2:10–11, NKJV When Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he had much to say about the Holy Spirit. The church was learning how to live as the body of Christ, and Paul wanted them to understand that the Spirit was not merely an influence, an impersonal force, or a feeling. The Holy Spirit is intimately involved in revealing God, dwelling in believers, distributing spiritual gifts, and bringing freedom through Christ.
