Hope and Mission in the Last Days

“Still Fields to Harvest: Hope and Mission in the Last Days”

Scripture Reading: Revelation 14:6-12

“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people.”
— Revelation 14:6 (NKJV)

A Global Message, Yet Unfinished Work

Brothers and sisters, we live in a time unlike any other. The gospel is being proclaimed around the world. The Three Angels’ Messages have echoed across continents. Through satellites, literature, digital platforms, missionaries, and personal witness, the message is reaching hearts in places we never thought possible. And yet... there are still unreached people. Entire communities. Isolated tribes. Even cities in “reached” nations where hearts remain untouched, unaware, or unconvinced.

We may ask, How is it possible? Hasn’t the work been done? Didn’t Jesus say in Matthew 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come”?

Yes, He did. And yet the work is not finished. So what do we do? Do we despair? Do we give up? Or do we listen again to the voice of Christ and recommit ourselves to the mission?

Why So Many Are Still Unreached

  1. Geographical and Political Barriers
Some places are hard to reach. War-torn regions, closed countries, remote jungles—these remain difficult terrain for missionaries. But we remember, “With God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

  2. Spiritual Opposition
The enemy does not rest. Satan knows the power of truth, and he resists its spread with deception, fear, and persecution. But Revelation assures us that the Lamb will overcome.

  3. Church Disengagement or Fatigue
Sometimes we grow weary. We become inward-focused. We lose the urgency. Or we assume the job is someone else’s responsibility. But Jesus didn’t say, “Let a few go.” He said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations”—to every believer.

 Christ’s Calling for His Church

The Three Angels’ Messages aren’t just to be preached—they’re to be lived. So how can we better fulfill the task that Christ has given us?

 Reignite Our Passion for Mission

Let the church not be a place of passive attendance, but a movement of active mission. Every believer is a missionary, whether across the sea or across the street. Our neighbors, co-workers, friends—all are fields ready for harvest.

Invest in Evangelism with Intelligence and Intention

We must go where the people are. That includes digital platforms, urban centers, and overlooked communities. God is calling us to creative faithfulness—using every tool, from traditional preaching to podcasts, from printed tracts to TikTok.

 Strengthen Discipleship, Not Just Conversion

True evangelism is more than just telling—it’s teaching, nurturing, walking with others in the truth. The Three Angels’ Messages are not just warnings—they are invitations to a life transformed.

Hope in the Midst of the Unfinished

When we look at the enormity of the task, it’s easy to feel discouraged. But remember this:

  • God is patient — “Not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

  • God is sovereign — “This gospel will be preached” (Matthew 24:14).

  • God is working even when we cannot see — Seeds planted today may not bear fruit until tomorrow.

Do not despair. Our job is not to complete the mission in our own strength, but to be faithful to the calling. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:6–7: “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase…neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but God who gives the increase.”

Conclusion: The Church in the Final Hour

The final movements will be rapid ones. But until that moment, we are not called to stand idle or fearful. We are called to go, to give, to pray, to speak. Not because we have the power—but because we are in the hands of the One who does.

Let us not grow weary in doing good. Let us not lose heart. The harvest is coming. Let us be found faithful.

If you’ve grown weary in mission, if you’ve lost the urgency, if you feel like your efforts are in vain—God is inviting you today to renew your commitment. This is not just a time for mission. This is the time.

Let us rise together as Christ’s end-time church—bold in truth, grounded in love, unwavering in hope. Amen.
