Hope from the Life of Jesus

 

A Love That Gives Us Hope

Take a moment to dwell on the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The Creator of the universe entered our world as a helpless baby. He lived among us, experienced our struggles, showed compassion to the hurting, and revealed the character of God. Then He willingly went to the cross, taking upon Himself the consequences of sin. But the story did not end at the tomb. Jesus rose again, conquering death and giving us the promise of eternal life.

Paul captures the depth of Christ’s sacrifice in 2 Corinthians 8:9: “Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” Jesus gave up the riches and glory of heaven so that we could receive something we could never earn—hope, forgiveness, and the promise of a life beyond this broken world.

When we truly understand that Jesus did all of this for us, our response should be more than simple appreciation. It should be a response of love, gratitude, surrender, and faithfulness. We should want to know Him better, follow His example, and share His love with others.

This world can often leave us discouraged, disappointed, and exhausted. But Jesus reminds us that this life is not the end. Because He lived, died, and rose again, we have a future beyond the pain and sorrow of today. Our hope is not based on wishful thinking—it is based on what Christ has already done.

Today, pause and reflect on the greatest gift ever given. Let the story of Jesus move your heart again. If He gave everything for you, what are you willing to give back to Him?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to this world for us. Thank You for His life, His sacrifice on the cross, and His resurrection that gives us hope beyond this present life. Help us never to take His sacrifice for granted. Fill our hearts with gratitude and love, and help us surrender our lives to You each day. When life becomes difficult, remind us that Jesus has already secured a future far greater than anything this world can offer. Help us live with hope and share that hope with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

They might never open a Bible. They might never attend church. They might never hear a sermon. But they could watch how you treat people, how you respond when you are hurt, how you handle difficulty, how you speak when you are angry, and how you live when no one is watching. The believers Paul describes were generous not because they had an abundance of money, but because their hearts had been changed by God’s grace. Their giving became an expression of their love, gratitude, and commitment to Him. Paul reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver.
