Trusting God’s Word Even When We Don’t Understand Everything
One of the challenges Christians face is that there are still questions about exactly how God inspired the Bible. We may wonder how divine inspiration worked through human authors, how God guided the writing process, or why certain details unfolded the way they did. While these questions are important and worth studying, our faith does not depend on having every answer. Instead, it rests on trusting the God who gave us His Word.
The Bible teaches that "all Scripture is God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16). This means that although human writers penned its pages, God was the ultimate source behind its message. Throughout history, God used people with different backgrounds, personalities, and writing styles to communicate His truth. The mystery of inspiration may not be fully understood, but the result is clear: Scripture faithfully reveals God's character, His plan of salvation, and His will for humanity.
Trusting the Bible as God's inspired Word is essential because it serves as the foundation of our faith. Without confidence in God's Word, we are left to rely on shifting opinions, personal feelings, and human wisdom. The Bible provides a firm anchor in a world filled with confusion and uncertainty. It gives direction when we are lost, comfort when we are hurting, and hope when we are discouraged.
Furthermore, trusting Scripture strengthens our relationship with God. Through its pages, we learn who He is, how deeply He loves us, and how He desires us to live. Even when we do not understand every aspect of its origin, we can see the evidence of its power. Countless lives have been transformed by its truth. Its message has endured across centuries, cultures, and generations, continuing to point people to Jesus Christ.
There are many things in life we accept without fully understanding. We trust that love is real, even though it cannot be measured completely. We use technology without knowing every detail of how it works. In a similar way, faith calls us to trust God's Word even when some mysteries remain. The reliability of Scripture is demonstrated not only by historical evidence and fulfilled prophecy but also by its ongoing work in changing hearts and drawing people closer to God.
Rather than allowing unanswered questions to weaken our faith, we can let them inspire us to seek God more deeply. The Bible invites investigation and rewards humble study. Yet ultimately, our confidence rests not in our ability to explain every mystery, but in the God who never fails and whose truth endures forever.
As we read Scripture, let us approach it with trust, humility, and gratitude. We may not understand every detail of how God inspired His Word, but we can confidently embrace it as His gift to guide us, teach us, and lead us into a closer relationship with Him.
