    Sabbath School First and Second Corinthians  Stewardship and Mission Lesson 11 - Wednesday When Giving Becomes an Act of Grace Read: 2 Corinthians 8:1–5 Paul points the Corinthians to the churches of Macedonia as an example of remarkable generosity. The Macedonians were experiencing “a severe test of affliction” and “extreme poverty,” yet they gave with overflowing joy and generosity. How could people who had so little be willing to give so much? The answer may be found in verse 5: “They gave themselves first to the Lord.” Their generosity was not primarily about money. It was about their relationship with God. The Macedonians understood that everything they had ultimately belonged to God. Their difficult circumstances did not determine their willingness to give.   Sabbath School First and Second Corinthians  Dealing With False Teachers Lesson 12 - Monday When Competition Gets in the Way of the Gospel Paul had an important message for the believers in Corinth in 2 Corinthians 10:13–17. He was concerned that some people were measuring themselves against one another and taking credit for work that did not belong to them. Instead of focusing on Christ and the gospel, they were becoming concerned about who was more important, who had greater influence, and who could claim more success. Paul refused to play that game. He explained that he would not boast beyond the limits God had given him. His ministry was to preach the gospel where God had called him. He was not interested in taking credit for someone else’s work just to make himself look successful. Sabbath School First and Second Corinthians  Stewardship and Mission Lesson 11 - Thursday Giving That Brings Us Together Read: Romans 15:26–27 Paul’s collection for the believers in Jerusalem was about much more than money. It was a powerful expression of Christian unity . The churches in Macedonia and Achaia were helping believers who were far away and facing serious needs. Paul saw this gift as more than charity. It was fellowship in action. These Gentile believers were showing their Jewish brothers and sisters, “We belong to the same family.” Romans 15:26–27 reveals Paul’s desire for unity because he wanted believers from different backgrounds, cultures, and locations to care for one another. The collection helped break down barriers and demonstrated that the gospel creates a family that goes beyond geography, culture, and personal differences.
