  Aaron’s Failure in Exodus 32:1–6 Scripture Reading: Exodus 32:1–6 "When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, 'Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.'” (Ex. 32:1) Exodus 32 records one of the darkest moments in Israel’s history—the making of the golden calf. It shows how quickly the people, left without Moses’ direct leadership, turned away from God. But it also shows how Aaron, the very one appointed to stand beside Moses, failed in the moment of testing. His leadership collapsed, and Israel plunged into idolatry.   "All That the Lord Says, I Will Do" How many times have you said, “All that the Lord tells me to do, I will do” ? Maybe you said it with sincerity, full of determination. But then, when temptation came, when pressure rose, or when the waiting was long, you realized your own weakness. This question is not new. God’s people throughout history have promised obedience, but often failed to keep their word. Israel’s Promises—and Failures When Moses read the covenant words of the Lord, the people responded with confidence: “All the words which the LORD has said we will do.” (Exodus 24:3) Again they declared, “All that the LORD has said we will do, and be obedient.” (Exodus 24:7) But only a short time later, in Exodus 32, they made the golden calf and broke the very command they had just vowed to keep. Today we turn our attention to Exodus 31:1–18 , a passage that shows us both the glory of God’s wisdom and His desire to dwell among His people in holiness. When God called Moses up Mount Sinai, He did not simply give general directions for the building of the tabernacle. He gave Moses a blueprint —a heavenly pattern—so that every detail, every measurement, every material would reflect His perfect design. This was not man’s invention but God’s revelation. The tabernacle was to be a visible sign of God’s dwelling place among His people, a shadow of the heavenly sanctuary. But God did not leave the work in human strength alone. In His grace, He chose and equipped two men for this sacred task: Bezalel and Aholiab . Bezalel was filled with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all manner of craftsmanship. Aholiab was given skill to assist in the work.   God Dwelling with His People Exodus 25:1–9 Introduction Exodus 25:1–9 marks a turning point in Israel’s journey with God. After the covenant at Sinai, God gives Moses detailed instructions to build a sanctuary. These verses reveal not only the practical steps of constructing the tabernacle but also deep theological truths about God’s desire to dwell among His people, His holiness, and His plan of salvation. God’s Desire to Dwell with His People God said in verse 8: “Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.” What a stunning truth!
