The problem is never with Scripture—it is with the posture of the reader. A closed heart can sit before an open Bible and still walk away unchanged. But a humble, willing heart can open even a familiar passage and hear the voice of God afresh. Paul explains this clearly in 1 Corinthians 2:14 : “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” A person who approaches God’s Word only through human reasoning, pride, or self-will will miss its deepest meaning.
