Sabbath School First and Second Corinthians All to the Glory of God Lesson 5 - Friday Further Thought Flee From Every Idol Scripture: "Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry." — 1 Corinthians 10:14 (NKJV) When most people hear the word idolatry , they picture ancient temples filled with carved statues of wood, stone, or gold. While those forms of idolatry certainly existed in biblical times, Paul's warning in 1 Corinthians 10 reaches far beyond physical images. He urges believers to "flee from idolatry" because idolatry is ultimately a matter of the heart. Why is idolatry so serious? Because it steals from God the worship, trust, love, and devotion that belong to Him alone. God is the Creator, the Savior, and the rightful Lord of our lives.
