The Blessing of God’s Shining Face  God’s face shining on us is a picture of His favor, presence, love, and blessing. In the Bible, when God’s face shines upon someone, it means He is looking on them with grace rather than condemnation. It is similar to the blessing in Numbers 6:25: “The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.” In the context of salvation, God’s face shines on us not because we have earned His approval, but because of what Jesus has done for us. Through faith in Christ, our sins are forgiven, and His perfect righteousness is credited to us. When God looks at us, He sees us covered by the righteousness of His Son. Because of that, we can stand before Him with confidence, knowing that we are accepted, loved, and saved by grace. Again and again, the psalmist cries out, “Restore us, O God; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved” (Psalm 80:3, 7, 19). When we personalize these words and replace “us” with “me,” the psalm becomes deeply personal: “Restore me, O God; cause Your face to shine, and I shall be saved.” Many of us can relate to this prayer. There are times when we feel weak, discouraged, distant from God, or overwhelmed by the struggles of life. We may see areas where we have failed, seasons where our faith has been inconsistent, or burdens that seem too heavy to carry. Like the psalmist, we long for restoration.   The One Thing That Matters Most Scripture: Luke 10:40–42 One of the most familiar stories in Scripture is the account of Martha and Mary. Jesus had entered their home, and both sisters desired to honor Him. Martha busied herself with preparing and serving, while Mary sat quietly at Jesus' feet, listening to His words. As Martha became overwhelmed with her many responsibilities, frustration began to grow. She finally approached Jesus and asked, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone?" (Luke 10:40). Martha expected Jesus to correct Mary, but instead He gently corrected Martha. Jesus said, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. The Sabbath, Circumcision, and the Seal of God Few subjects generate more confusion than the relationship between the Sabbath, circumcision, and the seal of God. Scripture speaks clearly about each—but it does not use these terms interchangeably. If we want biblical truth, we must let the Bible define its own language. The Sabbath: A Sign Between God and His People The Sabbath is explicitly called a sign in Scripture. “Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a **sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you” (Exodus 31:13). “It is a **sign between me and the children of Israel for ever” (Exodus 31:17). Through the prophet Ezekiel, the Lord repeats this: “Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them , that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them” (Ezekiel 20:12).
